Current ProjectI aim to take about a year to write a book about belonging. A big subject of course and I want to explore it from many different angles. It's fascinating to look at how people's perceptions of belonging have changed through the centuries and how the changes relate to perception of self. The book will include interviews with people whose experiences have given them particularly interesting insights. Einstein was not only a scientist but a philosopher. Here's a quote of his that I find particularly inspiring: "A human being is a part of the whole that we call the universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. The illusion is a prison for us, restricting us to our personal closeness and affection for only the few people nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living beings and all of nature." Albert Einstein |
